On 15th of March over 150,000 people around Australia rallied to demand action from our political leaders on Climate change and Environmental Justice. The Melbourne rally was part of a global movement sparked by 16 year old Greta Thunberg from Sweden, who in August 2018 decided not to go to school and instead sit outside the Swedish Parliament to demand action on climate change.
Worldwide a younger generation is rising and speaking up, a generation that feels the potential of catastrophic environmental destruction. A generation not limited by any political or economic beliefs who are capable and willing to change the way they live because their lives depend on it.
For the older generation of leaders, facing the facts and admitting the current way of doing things cannot continue might be uncomfortable - even risky - to your reputation and social status, your standard of living, your employment. But the stakes are high, and the consequences unimaginable. Instead of going on living in a state of comfortable ignorance for the last 20 0r 30 years of your life, imagine the possibilities - the adventure even - in helping a generation of children create an entirely new world that you might even like to come back and visit one day.
